Silent Witness began promoting an end to domestic violence in 1990 and since then we are pleased to report that domestic homicide rates are dropping significantly. Our message is one of hope, help and healing for the victims and perpetrators of domestic violence. October is “Domestic Violence Awareness Month” and October is “Silent Witness Month”. Domestic violence often occurs in the privacy of one’s home which often involves children who bear witness to both physical and emotional abuse. The Silent Witness Project is a national initiative which promotes the end to domestic violence in all 50 states and 30 foreign countries.

- A domestic violence crime is committed at the rate of once every 15 seconds.
- The Batterer is always in control
- Anger Management for the family is not an appropriate action
- 1 in 4 women feel the abuse
- One third of homicides are a result of domestic violence
- 75% occur in the home
